Introduction
This guide explains the terms and concepts you are likely to encounter when reading about the Gunutvales platform or using the review interface. Familiarity with this language will make it easier to navigate the documentation on this site and to interpret what the interface presents when you begin your review sessions.
Terms are grouped by area. Where a concept is used across multiple areas, it is explained in the section where it first becomes relevant.
Platform and System Terms
Information-Organisation System
The category of digital service that Gunutvales represents. An information-organisation system receives content, applies a classification schema to it, and surfaces the organised result through a user-facing interface. The system's role is to arrange and present, not to interpret or generate.
Classification Layer
The component of the Gunutvales platform that processes incoming content before it appears in the review interface. The classification layer assigns type labels, groups related items, and determines the order in which entries are presented. Users do not interact with this layer directly; they see its output in the review panel.
Classification Schema
The set of rules and categories the classification layer applies when organising content. The schema determines how items are grouped, what labels are used, and how the resulting entries are ordered. The schema is applied consistently across the interface.
Review Panel
The main surface of the Gunutvales interface where classified content is displayed. Users navigate the review panel to read entries, move between categories, and adjust the level of detail shown.
Navigation Terminology
Category
A grouping of related content entries within the review panel. The classification layer assigns each item to one or more categories based on the schema. Users can move between categories using the category selector in the interface navigation.
Entry
A single item of classified content displayed in the review panel. Each entry has a label, a summary, and a detail view. Users can expand an entry to see its full content or collapse it to keep the panel uncluttered.
Summary View
The default display state for an entry in the review panel. Summary view shows the entry label and a brief excerpt of its content. It is designed for browsing across multiple entries quickly.
Detail View
The expanded state for an entry. Detail view shows the full content associated with that entry as organised by the classification layer. Users switch to detail view when they want to read an entry in full.
Navigation Sidebar
The panel or control strip within the interface that displays the available categories and allows users to jump between them. The navigation sidebar is persistent across the review session.
Access and Enquiry Terms
Access Enquiry
A submission made through the Enquiries page requesting access to the Gunutvales review interface. An access enquiry is the first step in the process of establishing a review session. It is reviewed by the support team before any access is confirmed.
Access Scope
The defined set of content categories and interface functions available to a user following access confirmation. Access scope is determined during the enquiry review process and reflects what the user has indicated they need to review. Scope can be discussed and, where appropriate, expanded through follow-up enquiries.
Support Team
The Gunutvales team responsible for reviewing access enquiries and responding to user questions. The support team handles submissions through the enquiry channel at [email protected] and processes them in sequence.
Follow-up Enquiry
A subsequent submission from a user who already has established access, used to ask questions about specific content entries, request an expansion of their access scope, or report a concern about something they have encountered in the interface.
Content and Presentation Terms
Classified Content
Information that has been processed through the classification layer and is ready for display in the review panel. Classified content is labelled, grouped, and ordered according to the classification schema.
Type Label
A tag applied to an entry by the classification layer that indicates the nature or category of that item. Type labels are part of the schema and help users understand what kind of content they are looking at before expanding an entry to its detail view.
Display Controls
The interface elements that allow users to adjust how content is shown in the review panel. Display controls include options for switching between summary and detail views, adjusting the number of entries visible at once, and moving forward or backward through a category.
